Study in Italy

Study in Italy

Public universities across every region, private institutions that run on their own calendars, and one procedure that governs both: the Universitaly pre-enrolment.

Why Italy

Why Algerian students choose Italy

A short flight, a public university network that covers the whole country, and a procedure that is strict but readable once you know its order.

  • Close to home

Direct flights from Algiers to Rome and Milan keep you a short hop from family.

  • A public network, region by region

State universities across the north, the centre and the south, each with its own admission calendar and entrance tests.

  • Italian or English

Many degrees are taught in English. Italian-taught courses ask for language proof, commonly at least B2, verified by each institution.

  • One official procedure

Pre-enrolment for the study visa goes through Universitaly, the Ministry of University and Research portal, and nowhere else.

Programs and pathways

How you can study in Italy

Two routes, one procedure. We work out which one your diploma and your project fit before the campaign opens.

  • Public universities

    Public university degrees

Laurea, laurea magistrale and doctoral programs at state universities, with admission decided by the institution and, in several faculties, by an entrance test.

    • Pre-enrolment submitted on Universitaly for the study visa
    • Entrance tests and language checks set by each university
    • A study residence permit requested within eight working days of your arrival
  • Private institutions

    Private institutions and schools

Design, fashion, business and hospitality schools with their own selection and their own calendars, which often open earlier than the public one.

    • Portfolio or interview where the school asks for one
    • Universitaly pre-enrolment does not cover courses at institutions outside the accredited list
    • Offer letter and accommodation document prepared for the visa file

Your journey

From Algeria to an Italian campus

The Italian calendar is fixed and the consulate decides at the end, so we work backwards from the visa appointment.

  1. 01

    Shortlist and eligibility

We read your diploma and transcripts against each university's requirements, and name the courses you can realistically enter.

  2. 02

    Applications and language proof

Applications, entrance tests and the language certificate each institution asks for, prepared on their calendar rather than ours.

  3. 03

    Universitaly pre-enrolment

We complete the pre-enrolment on the ministry portal and follow it until the university validates it, which is what opens the visa appointment.

  4. 04

    Visa file and arrival

The study visa file for the consulate, then the residence permit request in Italy within eight working days of your arrival.

Common questions about studying in Italy

How long does a Italy student visa take?

Processing times vary by season and application volume, and the routes open to Algerian students change periodically. We confirm the current timeline and fastest eligible route for Italy at the start, and applying early with a complete file gives the smoothest decision.

Can I work while studying in Italy?

In most cases eligible full-time students can work part-time during studies and full-time during scheduled breaks. The exact rules and hour limits are set by Italy and change periodically, so we confirm the current allowance for your situation.

Can I stay and work in Italy after I graduate?

Many graduates of eligible institutions can apply for a post-study work permit, which builds local work experience and, for some, a path toward residence. Eligibility depends on your program and school, which we check before you enroll.

How much money do I need to study in Italy?

You cover tuition plus living costs and prove sufficient funds for your stay. The minimum amount and accepted documents are set by Italy and updated periodically, so we give you the current figure and the exact paperwork a visa officer accepts.

Which language test do I need for Italy?

Most institutions accept recognized tests, and many now accept the Duolingo English Test alongside IELTS and TOEFL; required scores vary by program. We match the test and target score to your shortlist and help you prepare.

Can Fennec360 handle my Italy application?

Yes, end to end: shortlisting programs, admissions, the student visa application, proof of funds, and pre-departure, with one team from your first call to your arrival in Italy.
