Study in France

Study in France

One procedure decides how an Algerian student reaches a French campus: the Études en France platform, the Campus France interview, then the consulate. We work it with you in that order.

Why France

Why Algerian students choose France

The language you already study in, a public system that covers every level, and a calendar published before the campaign opens.

  • You already have the language

Courses are taught in French. The procedure asks for B1 at minimum, most institutions ask for B2, and humanities courses often ask for C1.

  • Every level has a door

Licence, master, doctorat, BUT, licence professionnelle, CPGE and BTS, each with its own way into the system.

  • One official platform

Études en France is the Campus France Algérie platform, and the attestation de fin de procédure it issues is what the consulate asks to see.

  • A calendar you can plan around

Campus France Algérie publishes the deadlines before the campaign opens, so the whole year is readable from October.

Programs and pathways

How you can study in France

Four routes, and the one you take is decided by the level you enter at, not by preference. We name yours before the deadline.

  • DAP procedure

    Licence 1 and architecture

The demande d'admission préalable on Études en France, for a first year at a public university or an école d'architecture.

    • File submitted online and fees paid by 15 December 2026
    • Campus France interview by 15 March 2027
    • Final choice of institution before 31 May 2027
  • Hors DAP procedure

Licence 2 and 3, licence professionnelle, BUT, master, engineering and business schools

The hors DAP route on the same platform, for a BUT or a licence professionnelle, for everyone entering above the first year, and for the grandes écoles.

    • File submitted online and fees paid by 30 November 2026
    • Campus France interview by 15 March 2027
    • Final choice of institution before 31 May 2027
  • Parcoursup

    CPGE, BTS, DCG

Classes préparatoires, the BTS and the diplôme de comptabilité et de gestion are applied for on Parcoursup, not inside the Études en France file.

    • Parcoursup opens in January 2027
    • Visa requested from June 2027
  • Private institutions

    Schools outside the platform

Private institutions that are not connected to Études en France select you directly, so your file reaches the consulate on their calendar.

    • You open the Je suis accepté tab as soon as the school accepts you
    • Visa requested as early as possible, at least 45 days before the start of the year

Your journey

From Algeria to a French campus

The Campus France calendar is fixed and the consulate decides at the end, so we build backwards from the date your courses start.

  1. 01

    Your project and your French

We read your diploma and your transcripts against each course, and check your French against what the procedure requires, before you pay anything.

  2. 02

    Your Études en France file

We build the file on the platform with you, in the order it is read. The application fee is paid online within 48 hours of submitting, or the campaign closes on you.

  3. 03

    The Campus France interview

We prepare you for the interview at the Campus France space in Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba or Tlemcen: your project, your course choices, and why they hold together.

  4. 04

    The consulate file

Once the attestation de fin de procédure arrives, we assemble the visa file: proof of the monthly resources the French rule requires, your accommodation, and an appointment taken at least two months before courses start.

  5. 05

    Arrival and the VLS-TS

The long-stay visa runs from four months to a year, and you validate it online within three months of arriving. We stay with you for the first address and the first papers.

Common questions about studying in France

When should I apply to study in France from Algeria?

The Études en France campaign for the 2027-2028 year opens on 1 October 2026. Submit your file and pay by 30 November 2026 for Licence 2 and 3, licence professionnelle, BUT, master and the engineering and business schools, or by 15 December 2026 for Licence 1 and architecture. The Campus France interview must be done by 15 March 2027.

What is Études en France?

It is the Campus France online platform where an Algerian student builds one file, chooses programmes and receives the institutions' answers. Public universities and the schools connected to it are reached only through this platform; a private school outside it is applied to directly, at least 45 days before the start of the year.

What happens at the Campus France interview?

After your file is submitted, you meet an advisor at a Campus France space in Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba or Tlemcen. The advisor goes through your study project and your file with you. The interview has to take place by 15 March 2027 for the 2027-2028 intake.

What French level do I need to study in France?

The Campus France Algérie procedure asks for at least B1. Most institutions ask for B2, and programmes in the humanities often ask for C1, so check the level each programme states before you choose it.

How do I apply for a BTS or a classe préparatoire?

CPGE, BTS and DCG do not go through the Études en France calendar above. You apply on Parcoursup from January 2027, and the visa application for those students opens from June 2027.

What do I do with the student visa after arriving in France?

The long-stay student visa (VLS-TS) is valid from four months to one year. You must validate it online within three months of arriving in France; a visa not validated in time leaves you without a legal right to stay.
