Quick answers

  • What CLB do I need for Express Entry?

It depends on the program. Federal Skilled Worker asks for CLB 7 in all four skills, and Canadian Experience Class asks for CLB 7 or CLB 5 depending on your job category. Higher levels earn significantly more CRS points, with a real jump at CLB 9.

  • Does French really help?

Yes. Strong French results open the francophone-specific Express Entry draws at NCLC 7 or higher in all four skills, and bilingual candidates earn extra CRS points. For many Algerian profiles, TEF Canada or TCF Canada is the fastest route to a competitive score.

  • Which test should I take?

Whichever one you can score highest in. If your French is stronger than your English, TEF Canada or TCF Canada is usually the better bet. Book early and check availability at your nearest test centre, seats fill fast.

  • How long are my results valid?

Two years from the result date, and they must still be valid on the day you submit your application. Plan the test so it does not expire mid-process.

  • Is this converter official?

The tables are transcribed as published by IRCC, without rounding. IRCC remains the authority: if anything differs, their page wins, and program requirements can change over time.
